Pros and Cons of the Shark Upright Vacuum Review

Pros

  • Sucks The Dirt Out Of Anything – Well, I saw the good reviews about this vacuum and finally ordered it when we moved: our new house had a mix of thick carpeting along with linoleum or wood floors. Umm..it’s awesome! It pulls dirt out from under furniture like no other; my old one couldn’t do that (and she’d been used plenty times). The storage container makes you feel full after every use–you just click back into place you decide what type your flooring will be at any given time-which helps save space in those tight kitchens 😉 Plus there are different attachments available if needed – all nicely tucked away so they’re ready-to go when you need them.
  • Wanted a More Expensive Vacuum – After years of hating her vacuum, my wife finally found one that doesn’t give us headaches. The Shark Navigator is light enough for me to carry up and down the stairs with just one hand! It’s also made from high-quality materials so it will last longer than cheaper vacuums like Hoover or Dyson models which tend not to be as durable if you’re regularly using them on carpeted floors instead of hardwood spaces within your home – something important considering how expensive these things can get after time goes by (especially given today’s economy).
  • Picks Up Dog Hair – When we got our first Bernese Mountain Dog three and a half years ago, I was warned that they shed A LOT. It turns out this is true for both their fur AND dirt! After struggling with how to deal with all of those clumps every day (and sometimes multiple times), it became clear: there’s nothing better than the right vacuum cleaner made especially For Your Needs!.

Cons

  • Hose gets plugged – I’ve had plenty of vacuums in my day and this is by far the worst one I have ever used. It’s like their design flaw prevents them from picking up anything heavier than dust bunnies! The first time we got our hands on it, there were only two days left until return period ended so now all you’re getting from them are those cheap little plastic suckers instead… which really aren’t worth what they cost if your expectation even matters at all when purchasing something expensive (hint: EXPECTATION!).
  • Problem With Warranty – UNBELIEVABLE! Read this first before purchasing ANY Shark Vacuum products. I purchased a new Shark on January 22 of this year. Less than a month later, the roller brush stopped working. It is frozen and no troubleshooting tips would get it to work. So, I called Shark. They had no fix for this but they are willing to sell me a replacement part – replacing the entire head of the vacuum. Apparently, this part of the vacuum is not covered under their warranty and it makes no difference at all that I have owned this vacuum for less than 3 weeks. I will not be purchasing from this company again
  • Problem With Customer Service – Purchased vacuum July 17, 2016. Used it 1 to 2 times a month. The vacuum has a 5-year warranty. The power head rotating brush stopped working. I contacted Shark and talked to Chris on 3-13-18. He told me a new power head would cost me around $72 plus $19.99 shipping. I explained to Chris the vacuum had a 5-year warranty and was less than two years old with limited use.

Why is my vacuum so hard to push on carpet?

For example, if your vacuum is set to “bare floor” and you are trying to vacuum shag carpet, there simply is not enough room for the brush to rotate properly or for air to flow. With the proper height setting, your vacuum should move easily.

Conclusion / Final Verdict

As a Caregiver, I found the Shark Navigator Lift-Away Professional Upright Vacuum with Pet Power Brush and Crevice Tool, lightweight and easy to maneuver. The vacuum is also great for picking up pet hair. I was able to clean my entire house in record time. If you are looking for an upright vacuum that is lightweight and easy to use, I would definitely recommend the Shark NV356E S2 Navigator Lift-Away Professional Upright Vacuum with Pet Power Brush and Crevice Tool.
